This is a well laid out text. It provides a good avenue into teaching individuals with HID. It’s a great reference guide as well.
In reviewing this, I’ve been using this book as a reference resource when I’ve come up with questions that each of the chapters hits upon.First, I want to preface by saying I am an intervention teacher and resource person to my staff. I already possess extensive academic knowledge, professional, and personal experience in most of the topics covered in this book. What I was looking for is how USEFUL it would be for someone with more questions than answers...such as many classroom teaches or new SpEd or other intervention teachers.To that end, this book is a deep, deep well of knowledge, explanation, and advice. It is very very dense for that reason. It could have been organized as a box set of slim books with a singular reference guide so as not to be so overwhelming.This book covers that vast majority of strategies to intervening on behaviors and academics that I’ve come across over the years. To that end, having it as a new teacher would be a valuable resource. Not just for the recommendations of practices, but also knowing the legal guiding factors of serving children with IEPs, 504s, or in need of them but are without.This isn’t a light read that will make any one teacher masterful after a thorough read through. But using it as an ‘ask and answer’ resource would likely be very helpful for many.I’ve been sharing it around with other Intervention teachers at my school and received a lot of interest.I would definitely recommend this in schools that have a coordinator of intervention services.
